The First Tanzania – Rwanda Trade forum is scheduled to take place on May 20, 2016 in Kigali, Serena Hotel. The theme for the forum is: “COMMITTED TO STRENGTHENING BILATERAL TRADE RELATIONS & INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES”.”
The forum aims to promote trade, investments, and enhance bilateral partnerships between the business actors from the two Partner States. This annual to become First Tanzania – Rwanda trade forum comes after an exciting aura of refreshed political will and relation between the Two Heads of state after the inauguration of the president of the fifth phase government of united republic of Tanzania on November 5 , 2016 HE John Pombe Joseph Magufuli. As trade is the backbone of every economy, thus this forum comes at an opportune moment of renewed interest in the neo political relation between Tanzania and Rwanda.
More, On 6th April 2016, The Tanzania president HE John Magufuli made his first international state Visit to Rwanda for the Opening of the Rusumo One stop Border Post and Rusumo international Bridge on invitation of HE Paul Kagame of Rwanda.
Speaking to both Rwandan and Tanzanian citizens and dignitaries gathered on the Rwandan side of the Rusumo border, President Magufuli pledged stronger cooperation: “Tanzania will cooperate very well with Rwanda. I would like to ask businesspeople in both countries of Rwanda and Tanzania and citizens from the entire EAC (East African Community) to work together and build our unity. I trust that we can build our countries’ economies by working together,” Magufuli said in a short speech
The Private sector from Tanzania Has heeded the call of President Magufuli by initiating and creating the Platform of annual Tanzania Rwanda Trade Forum which is organized together with Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE) , Tanzania Truck Owners Association (TATOA) and Rwanda Private Sector Federation.
The Trade Forum is aimed at fostering trade initiatives whose ultimate goal is to improve business environment, formalize trade and strengthen economic ties between the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Rwanda.
Expected outcomes of the Tanzania-Rwanda Trade forum include, but are not limited to:
- To engage and empower Tanzanian and Rwandan Entrepreneurs to venture beyond boundaries.
