Following a request by TPSF Executive Director Mr. Godfrey Simbeye to HE. Dr John Pombe Magufuli, President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Chairman of the Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC) during the 10th TNBC meeting held on May 6th, 2017, the government has resuscitated the development of the PSDP. In a positive gesture, TPSF has designated, on full time basis, its expert to work with the government on behalf of the private sector in shaping the content of the policy. The rationale is evident; private sector is now the largest segment of economy, a growing and solid driver of economic activity and largest contributor on employment household incomes and government revenues.
What the PSDP will achieve is ensure business environment reforms are at par with progressive needs of the private sector, not at will but by the law, which will set our economy on a path of sustained growth. Add-on are also good – the policy will clarify roles of TPSF as the umbrella body and sector apex bodies (perhaps provide solutions towards sustainable funding) basis”), establish clear lines of cooperation and responsibilities of MDA’s to conduct structured dialogue with private sector. TPSF will host a series of meetings and dialogues to garner inputs, comments and views on the working draft of the policy, and continues to emphasize the importance of regular high-level Public Private Dialogue (TNBC, RBC & DBC) in the promotion and fast tracking of Private Sector Development in the country. “A new era for private sector abounds ladies and gentlemen!”
